Minister Rumiana Jeleva paid the first official visit by a Bulgarian Foreign Minister to the Vatican
On 16 December 2009, the Minister of Foreign Affairs Dr. Rumiana Jeleva paid a one-day official visit to the Vatican. This is the first official visit to the Vatican by a Bulgarian Foreign Minister in the history of the bilateral relations between Bulgaria and the Holy See, outside the traditional visits to Rome by official Bulgarian delegations in connection with the celebrations of the 24th of May.

Today, the Minister of Foreign Affairs Dr. Rumiana Jeleva delivered a lecture on Bulgaria and the Common European Road at the University of National and World Economy. Before a wide audience of students and representatives of the academic community Minister Jeleva outlined some of the key trends in the European policy of Bulgaria.

08 December 2009 Minister Dr.Rumiana Jeleva took part in the session of the General Affairs Council of the EU On 7 December 2009, a regular session of the General Affairs Council of the European Union was held in Brussels. That was the first session of the Foreign Ministers of the EU Member States in this format after the Treaty of Lisbon came into force on 1 December 2009, dividing the former General Affairs and External Relations Council into General Affairs Council and Foreign Affairs Council. The Bulgarian delegation was headed by Dr. Rumiana Jeleva, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Bulgaria.

The Meeting of the NATO Foreign Ministers ended
The regular meeting of the NATO Council at the level of Ministers of Foreign Affairs took place on 3-4 December 2009 at the NATO Headquarters in Brussels. Bulgaria was represented at the meeting by the Minister of Foreign Affairs Dr. Rumiana Jeleva.

Minister Dr. Rumiana Jeleva met with Bulgarians in inequitable position on the occasion of the International Day of Persons with Disabilities
On 3 December 2009, the Minister of Foreign Affairs Dr. Rumiana Jeleva had a meeting with persons with impaired vision on the occasion of the International Day of Persons with Disabilities and the Open-Doors Day organised by the Sofia City Municipality in partnership with the Council of Ministers and with all ministries.
